Travis Kelce's mentor warns 'don't forget your job' as he praises Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has been the talk of the town ever since September, and now, Kelce’s mentor, NFL’s Shannon Sharpe has shared his opinion on the romance.

The celebrity couple has had heaps of media attention over the past few months, and things are only hotting up as Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs recently secured their spot in the Super Bowl. Although the NFL star was in the limelight before, it seems that attention has greatly increased since he became involved with Taylor Swift, as his mentor has ‘one message’.

Shannon Sharpe, who played 14 years in the NFL, primarily with the Denver Broncos gushed about how Trav and Taylor make a “cute couple.”

“I don’t know her personally, but for him — knowing him the way I do — I don’t think he involves himself with somebody that’s not of the highest quality and a person of good character,” the 55-year-old told US Weekly.

On how he’s handled the fame: “I think he’s handled it well,” Sharpe said. “As long as you understand the main thing is the main thing. Don’t forget now: you’re a football player.

“Now, I understand that he’s dating Taylor Swift, and she’s as big as we have in the universe, but your job still requires you to be great at playing the game of football. And I think he’s done a great job of that,” he concluded.

The star says Kelce’s talent was “always bound to catch attention,” however, this is a “different type of spotlight.”

“I’m very excited for him, but I think he’s done a great job because he understands the scrutiny that was going to come along with it,” he said.

Although we feel like we know the ins and outs of the couple’s relationship, they’re pretty good at still keeping the little bits on the down low, despite the endless amounts of attention. He’s recently spilled more tea, revealing they’d been getting to know each other for “around a month,” before the music star’s first game.

“It wasn’t just an out-of-the-blue, ‘Hey, come to the game,'” Kelce said on The Pat McAfee Show. “I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing but a wonderful year, man,” he gushed, before saying he’s “having fun with it.”

“You know, it’s been a crazy, crazy ride that I could have never anticipated,” he continued. “But I’m having fun with it. The majority of the world is having fun with it, outside all the cranky NFL fans that just don’t want to see the Chiefs win.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers on February 11 in the highly anticipated match. Although some fans fear Taylor may not be able to make it due to touring in Tokyo in the days prior, others are convinced she’ll make it work.
